Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 becomes a children’s smartwatch

Google and Samsung have teamed up to turn the Galaxy Watch 7 into a kid-friendly smartwatch. The best part: your child doesn’t need their own smartphone!

You buy a Galaxy Watch 7 with LTE (important for the SIM card) and set it up for your child using your own smartphone. You use Google Family Link, a parental control app .

As a parent, you have control over important functions:

  • Location determination: You can see where your child is currently located.
  • Communication: You decide who can call and write to your child and who can reach your child.
  • School time mode: You can set times when the clock is muted so that your child is not disturbed during class.

These features are very similar to the Fitbit Ace LTE, which was also designed for children.

Your child can use selected apps that have been recommended by educators, including apps from Barbie, Crayola, Marvel, MathTango, PBS Kids and other well-known brands. The apps are designed to teach knowledge and encourage creativity in a fun way – for example in the areas of mathematics, science, music, movement and well-being.

Since it is a smartwatch, your child can track their daily activities directly on their wrist. You as a parent can also view this data on your smartphone.
